Radiology / Radiography

Radiology applications include diagnostic and treatment of diseases and injuries using medical imaging techniques, such as X-ray and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Radiation shielding typically requires a lead thickness of 1, 2 or 3mm Pb for radiology applications.

In addition, MRI equipment generates strong Radio Frequency (RF) interface, which can disturb other electronic equipment in the hospital or neighbourhood.

Conversely, external RF signals may disturb the MRI system’s RF coils and adversely affect imaging data accuracy.

To Prevent RF interference entering or leaving, an MRI scan room must be effectively shielded using a non ferrous material.
